LAKEWOOD, Colorado Tyler Thompson from Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale took the Class 3A state triple jump title today, during the Colorado State Track and Field Championships at Jefferson County Stadium.
The senior from Carbondale recorded a personal best jump of 46 feet, 9-1/4 inches to win the event in which he took second place at last year's state meet. Finishing second to Thompson this year was Hayden Loudenslager of Faith Christian, who went 44-1.
Thompson will try for another state title in the long jump on Saturday. He is the defending 3A champion in that event.
In other state track results today, the Glenwood Springs High School sprint medley team placed second in the Class 4A competition.
Competition for all classifications continues on Saturday at JeffCo Stadium.
